The Problem
We are committed to providing quality education to the most vulnerable students in Nepal. The Nepali educational system faces many complex challenges. In 2014, 72% of students from the public school system failed their School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations. Two- thirds of all children in Nepal attend public schools, and every year a significant majority of these students fail to graduate secondary school. In 2014 alone, 353,000 public school students failed their SLC exams whereas 92% of the 95,000 private school students who took the SLC passed. Even though education is a basic human right, it isn’t available to everyone and students in Nepal attending public schools are at a great risk of not passing the 10th grade. It’s time we empower the youth of Nepal by making quality education available to everyone. Education is the most effective strategy to tackle poverty and is integrally linked to human, community and national development.
